ALTEVAL Tutorial – Part 01 – Introduction

Part 1 of a 5-part tutorial on ALTEVAL provides an introduction, describing the basics of scientific alternative evaluation. ALTEVAL is a user-friendly computer program developed for Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) to explicitly evaluate alternatives. The program includes the K Nearest Neighborhood (KNN) Machine Learning algorithm which is designed to make an “educated guess” towards classifying an unclassified record. ALTEVAL includes different methods for conducting alternative evaluation and can be applied to many different fields. ALTEVAL was developed as part of the Parsons Fellows Program by Hamid Iravani, Transportation Planning Director and Fellows Board Member.
