Ambient Experiments with Music Thing Modular Workshop System
Recently acquired a DIY kit for this amazing instrument created by @MusicThingModular and distributed by @explodingshed (very cool for EU residents). I had the chance to solder it in an ideal environment, which took me around five and a half hours. Lately, I’ve been exploring the system and getting to know it better, inspired by @mylarmelodies’ great demo video, among many others. Beyond the “usual” zones that anyone with some Eurorack experience would recognize, there’s this very special module: the Computer — with its many functionalities provided by different Computer cards, and the incredible community developing around it. In this jam, I’m using @chris_j_yt’s Utility Pair card (which includes 25 modules, loadable in pairs into the Computer), and more specifically here: - Karplus-Strong, using the onboard contact microphone as the sound source - Delay, to further emphasize the resonant textures I was clearly inspired by a jam Chris recently shared on Instagram. I also added a second voice using an FM’d sine wave (they sound SO good!), triggered by a looping envelope and processed through a Boss DD-8 pedal. Apart from this external effect, all sounds come from the MTM Workshop System. Patch Notes : https://tinyurl.com/mwb3j6r3 Hope you enjoy — I certainly had a lot of fun making it. Cheers, Bertrand
