I discuss the difference between the true Ameraucana breed recognized by the APA (American Poultry Association) and the Easter Egger chicken, a bird of mixed genetics most often sold by the big hatcheries. In recent years, some hatcheries are finally listening to breeders and are selling true Ameraucanas in addition to their Easter Eggers and labeling them separately.
