An original, openwork ribbing pattern. A very simple stitch.
It can be used in various items—for cuffs, for hems, or for entire garments.
The number of stitches is a multiple of 4, plus 2. 8 rows.
Row 0 (Setup Row): Work 1x1 ribbing (1 knit, 1 purl).
Rows 1, 2, 3, and 4: Work according to the pattern (1x1 ribbing).
Row 5: Selvedge stitch, *1 knit, purl 2 together, yarn over, 1 purl*, selvedge stitch.
Row 6: Selvedge stitch, *1 knit, 1 purl*, selvedge stitch.
Rows 7, 8, 9, and 10: Work according to the pattern (1x1 rib).
Row 11: edge, * yarn over, 2 together purl, 1 knit, 1 purl, *edge.
Row 12: edge, * 1 knit, 1 purl, *edge.
