Anime's least discussed element...
Pacing is potentially one of anime's most important elements. While often brought up in conversation, it is frequently eclipsed by the other elements that influence it. Direction, storytelling, and especially animation, usually hog the spotlight. But what if the directors stretch out scenes? What if the animation is reused? And what if source material content is cut? All of those scenarios would surely affect pacing, right? Join me as I discuss variations on what makes a show well paced and what makes a show poorly paced, how each type of adaptation affects pacing, and how every other anime element plays into it. I wrote this video in June. I wanted to upload it in January. I promised early March.
