Anna Yvette - Illusion [ Synthwave , Synthpop, Retrowave ]

One of my favorite things to do in the whole world is to write and sing harmonies. As I was writing the lyrics for this song, I couldn't decide on a "lead" vocal melody. For this song, the vocal felt like it should be used as an instrument, accentuating the entire chord and the vocal should be the star of the show doing double duty! For production on this one, I wanted to combine my signature synthwave and retrowave with organic sounds. I started with a heavy driving gated bass synth combined with piano and orchestral elements. I have been playing violin since I was 7 years old and piano since I was about 2 years old. It was so fun incorporating the 80s style I love with organic instruments that I hold so close to my heart. This song was inspired by a dear friend of mine named Molly. She's been integral in the EDM scene for over a decade and I am fortunate to call her a true friend. The idea for this song came from just a few of the awakening moments that Molly and I have shared together in NY and LA. From raves, to Griffith Park, from our love of David Bowie, to spending full moon eclipse's together at CoSM and meeting Alex Grey, it's always an adventure!
