What does it mean to be creative? Appropriation has a long history in Art and some artists have used it as a creative strategy. However, where is the line between creation and plagiarism; between homage and theft? What is the difference between a remake and a reinvention? In this video, we will look at the history of appropriation in art and the several international artists that use it. These artists include Picasso, Duchamp, Pop Artists, the Pictures Generation, Asian artists, street artists and more; over 65 artists are showcased! NOTE: There is an error in the video at the 6:46 mark where the work of Barbara Kruger is shown, but the title reads Martha Rosler. Apologies. UPDATE: THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN RE-UPLOADED WITH THE ERROR FIXED.
