"Sulufaiga" Performed, written, and composed by Denise Faamasino-Tuitoelau “Sulufaiga” is a powerful song originally created for the film Loimata Natia (Silent Cries). Told from a young person’s perspective, it reflects how fear and violence can silence individuals—while reminding us of the importance of creating spaces where people feel safe, heard, and protected. The word Sulufaiga means refuge—a place of safety, protection, and healing. This video highlights the work of our educators and Taʻiala Peer Leaders who are actively creating safe spaces in schools and communities, using their voices to bring awareness, hope, and change. Through leadership, cultural identity, and peer-to-peer engagement, these young leaders are breaking the silence and empowering others to speak, heal, and thrive. About the Initiative: This video features the work of our educators and the Taʻiala Peer Leadership Program, implemented by Intersections, Inc., in partnership with schools and community stakeholders. The program focuses on youth empowerment, prevention education, and strengthening protective factors for young people.
