Roy Burns is one of the very few drummers whose career has encompassed virtually every area of the business of drumming. He has been a big band drummer, teacher, author, clinician, featured soloist, studio drummer, publisher, and now, manufacture of AQUARIAN drumheads. Roy Burns was one of the very first "Artist-Clinician Performers" in the music industry. In many instances, a Roy Burns clinic was the first drum clinic ever attended by thousands of young drummers, not only in the U.S., but in many foreign countries. He literally "Set-the-Standard" for today's drum clinicians. Young drummers all over the world followed his "Concepts" column in Modern Drummer magazine. It was one of the most successful columns in the history of the magazine and ran an unprecedented 12 years. Many of these articles are in "The Best of Concepts". He also wrote a number of drum books, many of which are considered "classics", including Finger Control, Elementary Drum Method, Advanced Rock Drumming, and One Surface Learning. In this unique video, Roy shares a lifetime of experience, including simple, easy ways to get your drums to sound good. He presents ideas and concepts that can be easily understood by students, young drummers, and pros. Roy also demonstrates ways to improve your buzz roll, tips on brush playing, and hand technique. As an added feature, Roy's "dynamic" drum solo, performed at Modern Drummers 10th Anniversary Festival, is included in its' entirety with a special introduction by Rick Van Horn.
