The Sample Project we created was an easy-to-understand example of how to use the ARA Gas Plus software for the classification of hazardous areas.
The scenario we chose was the HAC of a single methane (natural gas) pipeline in an open and unobstructed area where the ambient temperature can reach 40 °C in the summer.
The sources of release were the flange connections of the pipeline which are considered as secondary sources of release and we calculated with an internal pressure of 50 bar in the pipeline. Based on the calculations a 1,0 m distance Zone 2 area is expected in the vicinity of the flange connections thus in these areas equipment at least IIA T1 Gc protection can be used.
