Are We Back

This song was an exercise exploring a couple who once were very close, then life happened, driving the proverbial wedge between them. Years later, a reconciliation brought them together again, where they realized how close they had been and the importance of that close relationship. As he admits, “There’s no one else for me.” Then adds, “Well that’s something you ought to see.” But both have to wonder in a bit of amazement and ask, “Are we back? Are we really back?” The question is never answered, by either of them. So what is life for us humans on this beautiful planet we call Earth? Does one share life with another, very special & important person to them, and call it love, as though to admit that the act of sharing is in itself love? And why is love so important? Is it the companionship or more than that? Why is sharing a life with another so assuring and rewarding? It’s a simple song that raises many deeply set questions and even goals. One might even ask, What is life? Well, what is life?
