Arena Basics: Assign and Assign Attribute Modules

This video covers the assign and assign attributes modules in Arena 16 which allows interesting simulations such as giving something a different processing time depending on the entity type. Assign: This module is used for assigning new values to variables, entity attributes, entity types, entity pictures, or other system variables. Multiple assignments can be made with a single Assign module. Model status variables, such as entity cost and time attributes or process cost and times, may not be assigned a value with the Assign module. Multiple assignments are made in the order in which they are displayed within the Assignments repeat group. If an entity type is reassigned, the system status must be updated for the entity type prior to reassignment, or incoming entity type, and the entity type resulting from the reassignment, or outgoing entity type. The updates performed are shown in the following table: Assign Attribute: This module is used for assigning new values to an entity attribute. The active entity which executing the module can have its attribute value assigned or can trigger attribute assignment for an entity elsewhere in the system. Entities elsewhere in the system can be specified by referencing a particular entity number, the rank within the executing entity’s group (if the entity is a temporary grouped entity), or the position of an entity residing in a queue.
