Argument with Off-Task Student? - Mindful Teaching
Teaching reflection and mindfulness tip in Health Class. To ensure I'm not just posting the highlight reel of teaching, I figured it would be healthy to bring my monthly teaching mistakes to the world. ⛔✅ This month's mindful tip for teachers: "YOUR WORDS MATTER." Students purposefully off-task? Emotionally upset as the teacher? After any negative reaction to disappointing interactions with students, consider a few things: 1) Being frustrated or annoyed are natural human emotions. 2) As the adult, work to model mindful relationship recovery. 3) Reestablish boundaries for expected vs. unexpected behavior. A mindful response can work in building back the social connection between the teacher and the student. Words, tone, and delivery all matter. How-to details are in the video. Good luck to all teachers and students as we continue the 2022-2023 school year!
