Argus Machine - Evolving Automation
As part of our ongoing automation efforts, we have implemented our first “lights out” capable manufacturing cell in Edmonton. This cell is dedicated to the machining of our pressure switch bottom sub. The Argus pressure switch is widely accepted as the technology leader for well-site pressure control. We produce an average of 1000 units a month and have had highs of over 1,500. To meet increased demands for the pressure switch, in 2013 we purchased dedicated inspection equipment (Mitutoyo Crysta AS544 Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)) and a dedicated machine tool (Nakamura Tome WT300MSY) to support the manufacturing of the bottom sub. Since then we have focused our efforts on developing and refining our manufacturing process, as well as working through optimizing tooling, materials and machining processes to ensure product conformance. It has always been our plan to integrate a robotic arm into the cell. Music: credit to www.bensound.com
