These past few days I've had the chance to really sit back and listen to all of the Armored Core OSTs. It really is fascinating to hear how different each generation is from one another. Even then, AC V and Verdict Day stand out from other generations because they had these beautifully dark, brooding, industrial tracks along with the occasional throwback track to earlier entries. When I played AC 5 and Verdict Day, I felt the gritty, weariness of those worlds and it was the music that contributed to this vibe. I tried to capture that weariness in this track, Distant Thunder. It is really pared-down and has only a few modulation tricks here and there. I would almost consider this track the older, world-weary cousin of one of my earliest tracks, Aftermath.
