Art Carts
Kimberlynn Hobbs’s daughter Zeppelin has been in and out of Golisano Children’s Hospital for years. “It's been difficult for her,” she said. “But the people here make it a lot easier for not only her, but us as well. One of Zeppelin's favorite things is when volunteers like Pam Green wheel in the art cart. “They need something to do. We have crayons, we have crafts, we have coloring books, art supplies, bracelets they can make, and playing cards,” said Green. “It gives the kids something to look forward to, and I think they need that. I really think that they need that type of distraction, and they're going to do something hard. And at the end of the day, there's someone behind them. There's a craft for them to do that they can take their mind off something, you know, very difficult,” said Hobbs. Art Cart volunteers work with patients and family members of all ages. “It's just a wonderful thing to bring everybody together. Something to do to take your mind off why you are here,” said Green. “It gets us out of being stuck in four walls in the same routine. It's very nice to be able to break up that routine and have a craft to look forward to. Playing with some Play-Doh, we can all build something together,” said Hobbs.
