Asha ~ Wonderland

Asha presents this piano-based instrumental composition 'Wonderland,' from "The Healing Star." CD/download: http://www.ashaquinn.com/healingstar.htm I made this in 2018, but it's only now that I know what to do with it! When I luckily got a recording contract in 1987 with New World Music, I offered them instrumental pieces and piano vignettes, inspired by Mike Oldfield, Phillip Glass, Vangelis, Anugama and the like. Later came Ludovico Einaudi & Yann Tiersen (who composed the music for "Amelie") bringing solo piano to the fore. That's how I had always played at home, playing improvised piano music! My mother was a professional singer and pianist, so I was following her lead! Then, in the 1980's, my footballing & cricketing buddy Anthony Phillips of Genesis taught me how to orchestrate pieces further in the studio, as my mentor. I was lucky to have him as a friend. I have made just one solo piano album since those days, but "The Healing Star" is my first instrumental album since I recorded "A Concert of Angels" in 1993. 'Wonderland' is a happy tune, and as it emerged I imagined snowy landscapes, bells, reindeer and winter frolics! So that is how I've compiled the film. Ironically it's the end of June and 36 degrees outside as I write! Almost the temperature of blood! Well... this piece refreshes and cools then!
