Ashmolean Museum Oxford
The Ashmolean Museum Oxford (or to give it its official title ‘Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology’) was Britains first public museum which opened in 1683. Putting that in perspective King Charles II was on the throne and this was BEFORE Isaac Newton published his Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (I liked the film better than the book), the Battle of the Boyne, and the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts. The museum has 5 floors: • Lower Floor – This includes Money, Textiles, Reading and Writing and Conservation. • Ground Floor – Looks at the ancient world from Egypt to Greec to China. • First Floor – Explores the world of the Mediterranean, Islamic Middle East, India from AD 600, Mughal India and medieval Cyprus. • Second Floor – Examines how East and West came into contact with one another through the museum’s Western art galleries and the collections of Japan and China. • Third Floor – Hosts the collection of 19th to 21st century art. This video features items from all floors – paintings, sculpture, pottery, money, textiles The backing track is, an original composition, called ‘Stroll in the Morning Light’. The video was shot with an Insta360 Ace Pro and a Pixel 10 Pro on Sunday 08 March 2026.
