Join me today as I set to work in my asparagus bed. Unfortunately, we are facing several challenges that I want to share with you, along with a few tips in hopes that you have a successful asparagus crop. Not only is this bed overrun with weeds, but I am finding where some of the asparagus crowns and roots have become exposed as the soil level has settled. In hindsight, we should definitely have added more soil last year. Fingers crossed our bed can overcome these challenges and setbacks and still provide us with asparagus this spring. If not, it might be time to start a new bed from scratch. Only time will tell, but first we have a lot of work weeding and amending in our current asparagus bed.
