Specific purpose language assessment is the practice of testing readiness to communicate in a defined domain. Those of most interest are environments where a failure to use language effectively may lead to public or private danger. These include communication for the airline industry, peacekeeping operations, or medical contexts. However, all work contexts have specific language uses, such as hospitality or study.
