In this video, I go over making a simple light curve model for the star WASP 12 using Photutils and Matplotlib. In the light curve, we see the signature of an extra solar planet WASP 12-b, a hot-Jupiter orbiting WASP 12. This is the fourth part in my Astropy series and it assumes that you have a basic knowledge of Python, Astropy, and Photutils. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Download SAOImageDS9: https://sites.google.com/cfa.harvard.edu/saoimageds9/download Download the image data used in this video: https://www.astro.louisville.edu/software/astroimagej/examples/ Link to my GitHub page, where you can find the code used in this tutorial (look for L4_light-curve-modeling.ipynb): https://github.com/laingmic005/aperture-photometry.git ----------------------------------------------------------------- ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Thank you to Dr. Christian Draper of Utah Valley University for assisting me with this project. This project made use of Astropy (http://www.astropy.org) a community-developed core Python package and an ecosystem of tools and resources for astronomy (Astropy, 2013, 2018, 2022) This work made use of Photutils, an Astropy package for detection and photometry of astronomical sources (Bradley et al. 2022).
