DOWNLOAD SESSION PLAN: http://bit.ly/1LQwQxn Description A session designed to improve wide play and attacking crosses. This exercise gives plenty of opportunities to work on 1 v 1 and 2 v 1 situations and can be easily adapted to focus on defending. Key Factors: - Good passing and receiving skills. - Create space for each other. - Good choice of delivery when crossing eg. chip, hard and low, cut back etc. - Movement in the box to lose defenders. - Hit areas with crosses eg. front post, back post or middle. Organisation: - Using half a pitch (adjust size to suit age) set out a back four (yellow) vs two strikers, left back, left midfield, right back and right midfield. - When the ball is played out to the wide channel, can the yellow full back go out and press. If on the opposite side, they can tuck round. - Play starts with a one two with the striker and then play out to either full back. - Players then use the wide areas to set up an attack. Progressions: - If yellows win the ball they can set up a counter attack to the opposite goal. - Introduce a CDM for the yellows and CAM for the whites.
