A talk by Dr Sigrid Hellan, delivered as part of her visit to the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science (ICAS) at the University of Leeds in November 2025.
Dr Sigrid Hellan is also affiliated with the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and holds a Ph.D. in Data Science from the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.
Her research focuses on Bayesian optimisation, prior construction, and machine learning applications in climate and environmental contexts. During her doctoral studies, she applied Bayesian optimisation to air pollution monitoring under the supervision of Professors Nigel Goddard and Christopher Lucas. Her work bridges advanced data science methodologies with pressing challenges in climate research.
