We're back with Thiess, a global mine services contractor, to explore Lake Vermont, another one of their operations in Queensland, Australia.
Like all the other mines in the Bowen Basin, Lake Vermont produces coal using an enormous fleet of excavators, trucks, and other machines.
But while most other mines use primarily trucks and shovels, Lake Vermont leverages what they call a dozer push to move large quantities of overburden. And these aren't just any dozers—they're autonomous.
