There are types of fungus that have a large influence on forests. These are called mycorrhiza. Mycorrhizal fungi include some of the edible mushrooms like morels and chanterelles. These types of fungus form associations with plants and are influential in their growth. I take it a level beyond that and tell a bs story about it, partly for my own entertainment.
