B747-400 Takeoff sequence
Hello again everyone! How do you do! I was in tha Boeing 747-400 Flight Simulator at our training centre last week. We had about 5 minutes to spare at the end of the session. Thought I’d show you briefly what happens when setting thrust for takeoff. I also explain the TOGA switches which we activate to engage the Autothrottle so that thrust is increased for takeoff. TOGA is short for TAKE OFF/GO AROUND. This is because the same switch is activated to set takeoff thrust or on the approach, when activated, will result in Go around thrust being set- so for takeoff you are using to TO portion of the switch. On approach, you are using the Go Around portion- there!😀 During the takeoff roll, as aircraft accelerates, an import check is done at 80 knots speed. Both pilots verify their speed is at 80 knots and aircraft is accelerating. Pilot monitoring calls ‘80 knots’ to which Pilot flying should say ‘Check’ in agreement. V1 speed is a STOP OR GO speed. Once past that speed, aircraft must takeoff. Attempting to stop will result in runway overrun into trees/road/cars/water as there would be insufficient room to stop on the runway. Hope you like the vide and the explanations I’ve given. ✈️✈️✈️✈️LATER!
