Today, I go through why I love Mark Waid's run on the flash while pairing it with a lemon drizzle cake. If you wan to follow along at home this is my recipe: For the cake; -5 medium eggs -250g self raising flour -250g butter -250g caster sugar -zest of 2 lemons (alternatively you could weigh out your 5 eggs with the shells on and match the weight of everything else. i.e 249g of eggs, 249g of butter...) For the drizzle; 75g of lemon juice 75g of caster sugar. Step one - preheat your oven to 160c fan- Mix together your butter (let it soften a bit, if it's too cold it won't combine properly) and sugar together until creamy Step 2- Add to your creamy mixture your: eggs, flour and zest. Step 3- Once combined, line a loaf tin and pour in your mixture then transfer over to the oven. I'd recommend setting a timer for 35 mins and checking every 5 mins from then until a skewer can go in and out without any residue. Step 4- While the cake is in the over, juice your lemons and mix together the caster sugar, this is your drizzle. Step 5- Once the cake is ready, skewer throughout (apologies if you have trypophobia), pour over your drizzle and enjoy. This run solidified Wally West as my favourite superhero, what's your favourite rendition of The Flash? and are you picking up his new ongoing?
