Louis from WUF was in the right place at the right time at the end of April to capture mobile phone footage of Barbel spawning beneath Boughrood bridge on the Wye.
The spawning period doesn't last long; 3 days later and you wouldn't know there was a fish there. The biggest female was probably about 15 pounds with lots of males of 3 or 4 pounds. Plenty of younger fish around 1/2 pound, so we know there's more than one generation in the river. Lots of Trout zipping around picking up the stray eggs too.
