Fatal fire conditions can occur very quickly resulting from a range of electrical appliances and digital network failures. Cables are one of the few building products which have access to all three elements required to start a fire: fuel, oxygen and heat.
Fire testing of cables is required by the Constructions Products Regulation in both the UK & European markets. It assesses and classifies reaction to fire via flame spread, hazardous emissions, smoke and flaming droplets testing.
Circuit integrity testing, commonly referred to as fire resistance, is also a key factor in fire safety. This additional testing ensures emergency and safety management systems will continue to operate and alert building occupants to enable safe evacuation.
