BLS attempts to slow or prevent damage until advanced care becomes available.
The purpose of Child 1-Rescuer BLS is to learn how to:
- initiate the Chain of Survival,
- deliver high-quality chest compressions to promote circulation to the brain and other vital organs,
- use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and when,
- provide rescue breathing,
- understand how to work within a resuscitation team,
- treat a choking victim.
This video will demonstrate how one rescuer responds in a situation where a child has collapsed and become unresponsive.
