Battery Saving Switch in Digital Caliper

One of the problems with cheap digital calipers is relatively quick battery drain. Even when the caliper is "turned off" - so it seems. In reality, the display off doesn't mean that the circuit no longer drains the battery. Current measurements reveal that a cheap caliper turned off continues to consume the same, or almost the same, current in both ON and OFF state. A quick remedy of the problem is removing the battery when caliper is not in use.
