The BBDD is a hybrid percussive instrument that uses bucket brigade delay to create analogue Karplus Strong style synthesis. It features a fully analog signal path along with a digital 32 step sequencer with per step parameter automation of pitch, tempo and filter cutoff. Because of the nature of the BBD, by inserting an external input into the system, chorus, flanging and echo effects can be enabled. I built the system for my engineering technology thesis project. In many ways this is still a prototype, but I’m looking forward to pushing the concept further in the future!
