Approximate beam span, L =51 inches. Beam width, b =7.25 inches. Height of beam, h = 9 inches. One #4 rebar at bottom of beam for bending reinforcement. Single #3 bar (hooked at each end) as shear reinforcement at 6 inches on center. Estimated materials for steel fy=60 ksi, for concrete fc'=4 ksi. Mid span point load causing bending. Yield load 9.4 kips, Ultimate load 13.86 kips. Actuator preprogrammed to load the beam with 3 inches of displacement. Failure due to bending, yielding of the bending reinforcement. Very nice ductile behavior, despite the very severe displacement for such a short beam.
