How do you tell what beam you use when you are working on a project? Do you just guess or create a new beam from scratch? You could...but I would begin to worry about and project you are a part of. Instead, why don't you go check an appendix and see what beams already exist. From that, we can determine which beams can meet the load at the minimum cost.
