Beatbox tutorial - Equipment guide

A short equipment guide. There's some good info here though, especially if you are just starting. All explained in simple terms too, although I will be doing a more advanced vid later. The stuff I mention... Behringer XM8500 - £20, check eBay for cheap deals Roland Street Cube - £180, a little pricy but I love it. XLR-XLR cable - £5 XLR-Jack cable - £5 Especially if you're just starting out you're probably best off with a little guitar amp. Ask in your local music store for something that'd be suitable - like I say, more often than not they'll let you plug in and try it before you commit to buying. Unless they're douchebags, in which case you shouldn't be giving them your money anyway. The Shure SM58 I mention is used worldwide for performances and is by far the most popular microphone for singers and the like, and can be picked up for around £80. The XM8500 is practically identical. Mine looks a little scuffed... it has, after all, been to various parts of the world with me. They are very durable. The Roland Street Cube is just beautiful. It's a very sexy amp with a nice design, and the bright firetruck red amp is very eyecatching. There are a bunch of effects for the instrumental input, and the mic input has the usual delay and reverb effects. You can set the EQ too, which is fun. 6 AA batteries sounds like a lot but with rechargeables being cheap these days it's not that bad. The batteries in it now have given me at least 5 hours of use. It has AC power for when you use it at home, too. I'll do an indepth video review at some point. The cables are cheap and should always be cheap. There is no way you should pay more than £5 or £10 for cables, depending of course on the length. Ignore anybody who tells you to buy a certain brand - they all do the same job, and as long as you aren't overly rough with them you'll have nothing to worry about.
