There are so many talented newcomers who blow their elimination showcase rounds because they don't know how to hold a mic. Here are a few techniques: 1) Standard grip Wrap your fingers tightly all around the mic and place the mic right under the nose. This cupping grip creates a small space for the sound to enter so all the plosive sounds can be heard. However, humming noises are hard to hear! 2) 1-Up Method Like before, we cup the mic but put the index finger up on the side of the nose. This helps humming go through. You can place your other hand over to add effectiveness, but can muddy the overall sound. 3) Cupping Hold the mic with the ring and pinky fingers while the rest of your fingers cup the nose and mouth. This is great for nasal sounds, but is also weaker due to the distance between the mouth and the mic. 4) Nasal Grip Hold the shaft of the mic like a trumpet and place the mic right under your nose. This old school technique was popularized by Rahzel and creates minimal feedback!
