Love the solitaire ring look but not sure where to start? Well, here's a fun and easy way to make a solitaire ring using only round wire and a faceted stone! It requires only the basic tools that a wire worker would have and minimal skill needed! So, let's begin! Materials You'll Need: (x2) Segments of 20 Gauge wire (See note) ~5 feet of 28 Gauge weaving wire. (x1) 5mm Faceted stone (See note) Tools You'll Need: Chain Nose Round Nose Pliers Flush Cutters Ring Mandrel (Optional) Rubber mallet or Hide mallet (Optional) Nylon Pliers ............................................................ Notes: * To measure the 20 gauge wire, you need to determine the ring size. Because of this ring design, if you are wanting a size 7, you'll need to measure 7.5 to account for the wire wrapped through the band. Next, take a scrap piece of wire and wrap it around the ring mandrel. mark the end of the wire and use a ruler to measure its length. From there, add 4 inches to your measurement. That's about how much you'll need for this ring. *You can use a 4mm or 6mm faceted stone as well for this project. You may also try using a flat back cabochon, but this design is intended more for stones with a pointed back. ............................................................
