BEING BLIND AT CONVENTIONS

This video was filmed LAST year - so way before we were all put into lockdown and conventions were postponed for the time being! Going to conventions in general is a big ask of anyone - there so much to do and see! You might be a photographer with lots of equipment, a vendor running a stall, or a cosplayer with a fabulous costume! For me, as a blind girl they are a sensory OVERLOAD! I still love attending them though, and still make most of my own costumes! Knowing I have to attend with a aid such as my guide dog or cane has definitely changed how I think about events - and I can only go if I have friends or family who can come as a 'carer/companion' as it wouldn't be smart or safe for me to go on my own. I have so many funny stories from some odd interactions with strangers at events still to tell - this video is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't wait to share more of my experiences with you!
