In this video from The Strength Institute we go over Belt Squats! This squat variation is great for several reasons: 1: Teaching beginners how to set up their stance, feel the weight load correctly through their feet and work to a full range of motion with the light support of the uprights. 2: Working with lifters returning from injury. Shoulder, neck and upper/middle back injuries may stop an individual from squatting with a barbell but the belt squat allows them to replicate an actual squat movement (opposed to something like a leg press or knee extension) without aggravating their injury. 3: You can load the belt squat to an equal or heavier weight than your normal squat but because there is less muscular recruitment due to the limited upper body requirements you can reduce peripheral and CNS fatigue accumulation!
