Bernard Wright - Spinnin' [ Bass Cover]

Time to bring back some good ol' funk ! We'll go for a tribute to Benard WRIGHT, with his 1st record "Nard" - 1981 (GRP/Arista Records) This album is by far one of my favorites among the 80's funk stuff for a good reason : it's COMPLETELY DOPE ! (It has also been sampled to death by 2pac & Snoop Dog) For his 1st solo album; Nard have been helped by the legendary Dave Grusin/Larry Rosen Duo to produce his record; and the result is remarkable... Perfect crew : Marcus Miller; Don Blackman; Buddy Williams; Bobby Broom...(Did ya say NY queens) ? Perfect sounds : tons of Rhodes, Clavinet, Oberheim synth; among others 70's delight and...what a f***** pianist !! Nard was only sixteen when he recorded this... listen to the solo at the end of the song ( or listen to the whole album haha): Sometimes; a few notes worth more than 10 thousands words ! Let's talk bass for a few secs now ! Marcus lay an amazing groove here; simple ( or not so) & powerful ! Hard to keep straight; but fun as hell to play ! Thanks for watching and sharing ! Après être parti dans l'espace; il est temps de revenir à un funk bien gras : j'ai nommé l'album "Nard" de Bernard Wright sortit en 1981 ( GRP/ARISTA) Grosse référence sonore et musicale; la prod est délicieuse et ça joue plutot bien disdonc disdonc ! Pour la petite anecdote , le disque à été samplé à mort par des rappeurs comme Snoop Doog et 2PAC.. Ce n'est peut être pas un hasard! Des handclaps partout; du clavinet, du rhodes et du synthé Oberheim partout ( une grosse touche 70'es ) ; des musiciens de haute volée ( Marcus Miller; Buddy Williams, Don Blackman, Dave Grusin, Bobby Broom.. Jamaica Queens,NYC RPZ); un Bernard qui est déjà virtuose du piano à 16 ans (sinon c'est pas drôle)comme l'atteste le solo de fin; ( ou tout l'album) oh et il chante aussi ! Spinnin' est le parfait exemple de la ligne de basse musclée à la Marcus! Simple (ou presque..), efficace et puissant!
