Beyond Basic Charts: Tableau Tutorial for a Modern Orders Tab

The Orders Tab is the third in a 3-part Tableau dashboard series, designed for interactive order analysis with modern visuals. It features a ringed donut chart to display key order metrics in a tabular format, making the data more visually appealing than standard tables. For breaking down the number of orders by category, a packed bubble chart is used. The tutorial covers creating a basic packed bubble chart, enhancing it by allowing bubbles to overlap, and customizing it with gradient bubbles and shadows using custom shapes. The dashboard drills deeper into order data by displaying the top 10 products (subcategories) using a gradient rounded bar chart. This visual includes mini time period buttons (e.g., 1D, 7D, 1M, 1Q, 1Y), allowing users to filter and sort the top 10 products dynamically based on different time frames. The chart is responsive, showing the top 10 products based on the selected time period. For more granular detail, an order details table uses color-coded status labels to identify orders as Complete, Pending, or Cancelled at a glance. For a total distribution of order statuses, the dashboard includes a basic waffle chart. This waffle chart is then enhanced with custom shapes, allowing you to replace traditional squares with shapes like rounded containers or icons.
