Basics of big-data processing. We start off with a task about Pizzeria scaling and we use to understand how big-data systems work. Then, we give a word count example and use it to describe the main components of big-data processing including functional programming, directed acyclic graph (DAG) modeling, and bulk synchronous parallel execution.
