Bitumen Ductility Test
This is a test of #ductility conducted as per IS #ASTM D113. In this test, we measure the elongation of bitumen just before breaking when pulled apart. First, we pour the bitumen sample into the mold and let it cool down to room temperature for about half an hour. Then, we put the sample into the water bath. The temperature of the water bath is 25°C. The sample remains in the water bath for 90 minutes after which we run the test and measure the elongation of the bitumen sample. We put the sample in water for 90 minutes before filming. These two clips retreat in opposite directions with a speed of 5cm per minute. The bitumen sample is pulled apart until it becomes as thin as hair and then, it breaks. The exact break time is recorded and reported as ductility.
