Emulsion distillation test
This test is the emulsion distillation test conducted as per IS ASTM 6996.
First, we pour 200 gm of emulsified bitumen in the container and weigh it. Our objective is to determine the amount of bitumen inside the emulsion.
We position the flame 15cm from the surface. When the temperature of the sample reaches 216°C, we increase the heat until it reaches 260°C after which we maintain this temperature for 15 minutes and weigh the sample again. Using the calculations specified in the standard, we calculate the amount of existing bitumen in the emulsion.
