This is a #viscosity test conducted as per standard (IS) #ASTM D2170. In this experiment, we aim to determine the viscosity of bitumen. First, we increase the temperature of the oil bath to 60°C and pour the bitumen sample into the viscometer tube. We allow the temperature of the bitumen to reach 60°C for about half an hour. Then, we start the test by removing the rubber stopper and measuring the duration throughout which the bitumen sample moves the distance between the two indicators. This duration is recorded in seconds and finally, we can calculate viscosity by multiplying the recorded time by the coefficient of viscosity.
