This standard, written by Brazilian guitarist Luis
Bonfa, goes by several names. Manha de Carnaval, Carnival, A Day
in the Life of a Fool and Theme from Black Orpheus. The melody
appeared as the principal theme in the 1959 film Orfeu Negro. This
was one of the first bossa novas to be popular outside Brazil. This tune
has often been cited as one of the most important Brazilian bossas
that helped to establish the Bossa Nova movement of the 1950s.
