Blue Squire | Humanoid Robot Design Process

Blue Squire (originally designed in 2022) was a design exercise focussed on combining the proportionality and posture of a chimpanzee with 14th Century English armour, as well as modern-day utilitarianism. The role of the Blue Squire assistance droid is to provide security departments (and the Iron Duke) with assistance in day-to-day duties, including patrol, look-out and light enforcement. Often misunderstood due to his faceted design language and rugged material selection, Blue often has approachable and friendly tendencies towards humans, preferring de-escalation and avoiding conflict where possible. The following is a breakdown of the (re)design process. I begin by creating new base geometry based on the original design (previously named Blue Scout). I then assess and adjust proportionality extensively before porting the mesh data from Blender to MoI, where we begin the detail design phase.
