I try the demo version of BobCAD CAM. I installed the internal SolidWorks version. I love that it is more stable than other CAM programs I have tried, only crashing occasionally. Another big plus is they let you save the part files with all the toolpaths, but you can't open them in a paid-for version, which is only fair. The demo version will only post a few lines of G-code.
The downside is that there is no help system, and no "undo" function. They have a "wizard" mindset, where they think calling a dialog box a wizard makes it simpler, when it just is more confusing. The worst thing was that the simulator does not have a "compare" function that shows the part with gouges in red and excess stock in blue. Instead, the program generates a report and then paves little text boxes across the part pointing to excess material. It is very hard to understand what the problem is, and some of the dimensions cited make no sense.
