Bonsaify | Making Mame Magic: Juniper Cascades
Eric uses a little magic to pot and style four Kishu Junipers, removing them from 2 inch growing containers and potting them into very, very small pots from Bob Potts of Rough Cut Pottery (https://www.bonsaify.com/collections/rough-cut-pottery-bob-potts). 00:00:45 Prepping pots with screens and tie wires. 00:01:40 Removing the Junipers from their containers and cutting back most of the roots. 00:02:47 Extending earlier shari work; goal is to get more irregular trunks without creating a reverse taper. 00:03:55 The challenge with unique pots like Bob's is to match the movement of the tree trunk to each pot. 00:05:01 Eric chooses the front of the pot for tree #1 to position tree. He adds soil to firm up the tree after tightening the tiewire. 00:06:11 Potting the 3 additional Junipers. 00:08:08 Styling time! Using copper wire to accentuate the cascade style. 00:10:00 The rough shape of tree #1 is wired but it has too much foliage so Eric removes some. 00:11:03 SURPRISE! 00:11:32 A more complicated style and the MAGIC begins! 00:12:34 What are your thoughts about tree #2? 00:13:08 What about tree #3? 00:14:09 Styling tree #4.
