Description by Phil Houghton
This piece was first published in 1931, and as far as I’m aware there are no other recordings or videos of it. Bornschein (1879-1948) composed over 200 works, including a violin concerto, several pieces of chamber music, songs, cantatas and oratorios. The Arcadian Suite is in the Light Music style.
The Music for Everyone Nottingham Daytime Orchestra is an amateur orchestra which meets once a week during term times. It is made up of players of a wide variety of abilities and experience, so the emphasis is on fun and progression during the term. At the end of each term, the orchestra does a playthrough of what it has been working on to friends and family.
